About Us

Preston Symphony Orchestra is the brainchild of our Chairman Matthew Price

There has not been an orchestra in Preston since the early 1960's. Matthew decided he needed to change that and that Preston City needed to have its own orchestra once again. In October 2023, Matthew took to social media, inviting interested musicians to get in touch. Within a few weeks a large number made contact and in November an informal playing session was organised, to which 55 musicians from around the county and beyond attended.

In January 2024 the orchestra was born. In the first three rehearsals, Conductor auditions were held. From these auditions the orchestra appointed MARCO GIUDICI as its Principal Conductor and JOHN CHAPMAN as its Deputy Conductor.

Preston Symphony Orchestra is run by a steering committee of experienced and talented musicians from within the orchestra. Their experience in setting up and managing orchestras, legal background and handling marketing and publicity is being harnessed, to assist the orchestra in its new journey, encouraging growth and development of the orchestra alongside their new team of conductors and communicating with the community of Lancashire to promote concerts and opportunities  for the orchestra to interact with the community.

Preston Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to sharing the timeless beauty of Popular, Classical and New music with the community.

Our passionate musicians and enthusiastic and experienced conductors are coming together to create unforgettable musical moments that will resonate with audiences of ALL ages and backgrounds across the County of Lancashire.

We invite the people of Lancashire to come and share our journey with us!
